Did his occupation have some sort of trade organisation or was it something like a teacher where you have to be registered this might help as he may still have the same job

Not being much help am I !! Have you tried searching for his name on this site and contacting people with that name about the right age in their trees, could take a LONG time but worth it if it works, hope his 1st name isn't John!!

if i had just the name of a person...(my dad)
and occupation...(on my birth cert)

how would i trace him...

my parents wasnt married..and he left when i was a few week's old

any advice more than welcome
