Army records help please

My Grandad was in the second world war. Does anybody know how I could find his army records? When he died in 1986, his property was split up and nobody knows what happened to his army records and medals etc.

I don’t have any information about his time in the army other than I know he was shot in the arm (the bullet they removed was also with his army records) and he was stationed in the jungle somewhere.

Any help would be fantastic!

You need his army number. Then you can send off for his records, they will cost £30, take about 6 months to arrive and you need permission from his next of kin.

Army Personnel Centre,
Disclosure 2,
Mail Point 515,
Kentigern House,
65 Brown Street,
Glasgow,
G2 8EX

Tel: 0845 600 9663

If you ring them, they will send you an application pack telling you eveyting you need to know.
