Having had a google, it seems the nearest town is Ottery st Mary.

I think ann is just wanting the baptism details but his age does vary by 4 years in the census info.

I think we need to wait to see what ann actually has already and what is really wanted. The IGI gives a number of "suitable" baptisms, particularly in the Clawton area where they seem to have a connection but if ann's friend has had all the baps from that area and the FHS cant find the right one ..............

His place of birth is listed as Whimple in all of the censuses apart from the 1851 census where it clearly reads Plymouth.

Has anyone checked the baptisms in and around Plymouth - just in case

Have you bought his marriage certificate which would give his fathers name and occupation, the witnesses and the place of residence in 1850? You dont mention his father in the above info.

Where HAVE you found him/them - what census? What info are you looking for?

We have looked on all sites we can think of to try and find him , my friend has ordered all bapt records from Devon area, people from Devon FHS have tried to find him too

He is my friends G grandfather and we are really banging our heads against a huge brickwall with trying to find him.

Please can anyone help or just give us some clues as to where else we can try.
