I am tracing my Wintrip Connections again and I am now trying to trace Alexander Wintrip born abt 1800-1802 and his Family Have found them in all census form 1841 onwards but whenit comes to 1871 I found Alexander listed as Father in law Living with Margaret & James Davidson.

only problem is i cant find a Margaret living at any point with Alexander there is a Mary b 1829 on 1841 Census so do you think Margaret is Mary .

Both Robert Alex scott and William Black are listed as grandsons with parents William and Isabella (isabella being Alexanders daughter) but why the different surnames?

Alexander had at least 7 other siblings that i know of all born in Wooler so there are an awful lot of wintrips in that area. but the record for Margaret looks right and fits in with the dates for Mary on the census.

I have a horrible feeling that this family are going to give be a big headache before i am done.
