Does anyone know how to get access to information on football players from years ago? As a member of my family was a footballer for a few years in (I think) the 50's before he emigrated to Australia?

Thanks.

Have you tried Googling? Do you know which team he played for?

I definately know he played for a team called Port Vale Football Club (Robbie Williams fav footie club) and there was another one but not sure of the name until I ask my dad, but I think it ended in Albuim footie club but like I say not 100% on the last club til I ask.

You could always try the Football Association. Do you think the other team might have been West Bromwich Albion? Good Luck! BC

Hi

It could also have been Brighton and Hove Albion, or if he went to Scotland, maybe Albion Rovers.

Maybe Port Vale have a website which could help. And as Ann said, it is well worth putting his name on here, somebody might well remember him.

Just asked my dad and he now thinks the other team might have been Doncaster.

Could have sworn he said something with Albion in oh well lol.

His name was Sydney (some spelt it Sidney) Goodfellow b.I think June 1915 without looking at tree. Played footie between about 40's-50's, afterwards as far as I'm aware he ran a pub in Newcastle, staffordshire before emigrating to Australia in late 50's.

Thanks

If you Google Syd Goodfellow, you'll see there are a couple of sites mentioning him. The best one appears to be a subsription only site.

Sarah,

I may be able to find you a programme for a game that he played in if you would be interested.
