Have an Atlas and Guide to London 1923 and it's not in that although they could have changed the name.

Mile End is in Tower Hamlets. Why not email the Local History Library and ask them about the road. I'll bet they will be able to helpyou:
localhistory@towerhamlets*gov*uk
(don't forget to change stars for full stops)

Hi
In 1881 it came within the Mile End Western district 13.Other streets included which are still there are Sidney St, Jubilee St and part of Commercial Rd. If you look on www.streetmap.co.uk
you can get an idea of where it used to be.

Mile End was east end of London and suffered a lot of bombing in WW2 especially aimed at disrupting the London Docks. We lived in SE London and we caught a load of bombing too,

I remember seeing pictures of Queen Elizabeth going to the East End to show her sympathy for the people and saying she was glad when Buck House had some bomb damage cos she felt as one with the folk.

So what i,m saying is it was probably bombed out and the area rebuilt after the war and that street no longer exists.

Oh, it may have been demolished and is now something else. I´ve been trying to find a lot of my old addresses on google earth and some of them are still in there, but many have gone. The photos I have of those that still exist are all changed beyond recognition. I suppose a part of me wants everything just to stay the same.....

Elaine, I´ve just googled earth and it doesn´t seem to exist, but Garden St. - Poplar is there. Don´t know if that is in Mile End or not. Are you seeing Gardom St. on a census? Someone is bound to be able to help you on here.

Does anyone live near or in Mile End London? I am trying to find Gardom Street where an ancestor lived. The nearest I can find is Garden Street and I wondered if the name had changed.
