Victiria has explained it very well, just to add -

When you have the tree report you want with all appropriate the names on screen, then on clicking File / Export file, remember to use the option "Copy / Export Individuals in XXX Tree" where XXX will automatically read the type of tree report you bhave created, eg Ancestor, Descendant etc.

Another way if you cant get the names you want easily on a standard report, is to add them manually - more tedious. To do this select File / Export and then "Selected Individuals" you can then enter the names you want.

I have to do it to explain it!! So this may take a long time!! Press on the fifth icon from the left at the top of the page I think it says pedigree view then go to the people you want at the top of the tree. Click on view, go down to Tree charts then down to descendent tree standard then it should come up with the tree you want to send then click on file then export file and it will go to my documents save it somewhere you will be able to find it and under a name you will remember.

Then do an email to this person and attach the file.

Clear as mud!!

Go to the person/couple that are at the top of the part of the tree you want to send and do a descendent tree - save this and then you can send just that part to this contact.

hi i wonder if anyone could give me some advice. i have been using ftm 05 for storing my family tree and i have been really happy with it although i havent done much with it. i have now found a contact who i have confirmed is related and i would like to send him part of my tree to view.
i have exported the entire tree before but never just a part of it. how do i do that? i only want to put the part of the tree into a gedcom file that is relevant to my new relation.
all help and ideas would be great.
i know i can do a genealogy report but i want to export parts of the tree so he can open them up and view them through his ftm.
thanks linda
