I have made a bit of a breakthrough today with my ancestor Ann Branston (chr. 27/2/1832 at Bottesford, Leicestershire) but have become stuck and wondered if anyone could see her where I couldn't.

I have a possible marriage for her in the Jun qtr 1854 in Southwell reg district (Bottesford is under Grantham but Southwell is not too far for her to have gone) to Samuel Norman and have found her on the 1861/71 census records - Samuel is away from home in '61 but with her on High Street, Bottesford in '71.

In 1881/91 I have tracked Samuel down at The Rowans, Orston (1881, says he's married) and Nottingham Road, Bingham (1891, says he's widowed) but can't find Ann.

Is there anyone out there who can see her where I can't? I can't see an obvious remarriage or death yet.

Sorry, I deleted last 2 threads as I misstyped 1823 and not the correct 1832...DOH!

Thanks for having a look, Betty. I'm really puzzled about this lot, actually. Not only am I having trouble with Ann (who I know was still alive and with dad and stepmum in 1851), I'm also trying to locate her sister Sarah and stepsister Emiline.

They seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth (although I think I found Emiline in parish records as a witness to her brother Henry's marriage in 1853).

I'm sure they'll turn up - I'm trying to come up with creative ways to spell Branston.
