Locating a Birth Index

Hi Guys

Just wondering if someone could possibly point me in the right direction. I'm having a problem locating a birth index. I have the correct name, place & date of birth etc from Military Records, just can't seem to find the birth index.

I've tried searching under his first name and middle name both with his surname & mothers maiden name. Have also tried looking in the 3rd & 4th qtr of the year he was born and the 1st qtr of the following year. Don't know where to look.

If anyone has any ideas, the help would be greatly appreciated.

The name is George Henry Watkins bn 23/09/1908 born in Aberbargoed. He enlisted in RASC in 1939 at the age of 31. I remember my nan saying he was just over 3 years older than her and she was born January 1912. Their mothers name was Emma Miles.

5 of my relations including my own father, I have found lied about their ages on their Enlistment records.

I don't see a marriage record for an Emma Miles to a Watkins.

Aberbargoed comes under Merthyr Tydfil.

Closest I can find is this:

Miles George Henry Merthyr T. 11a 834

Can you find your Mother's birth reg on freebmd...then look for George in same reg district.
