need to date a royal marine uniform

I've been given a black and white photo of a family member and am struggling to identify him.

Can anybody help to put a rough date to the uniform?

He has a flat topped cap on, similar to a sailors one nowadays.
The Royal Marine logo is on the front.

The uniform itself looks like it's made of a thick woolen material, with a wide belt around his waist with a clasp to join it but no buckle.

He has a collar with the Royal Marine emblems on either side.

Thanks

Moira
