Sorry you missed the Archers! The Millichamp side of the family as been a complete headache from start to a never ending finish. The Smith side has been an absolute breeze by comparison with me getting back to the 1700s with no problem.

Where's the wool!

I should rush out straight away and buy some wool. I was so engrosed with your problem that I missed the archers again ! Its ok I listened to it on the internet. I think we all have ancestors that came from Mars and do not seem to be recorded anywhere. They are the ones you think about and spend hours looking for.

What's annoying is that I can't see where my grandmother fits into all of this. She always insisted that she was born in Q4 1910 but no record exists of her at all!

I believe that the one I'm looking for is the Arthur H but I will investigate the other one though.

Its enough to make you wish you'd taken up knitting as a hobby!

There are 2 Arthur's One born in 1888 who appears to be MILLECHAMP on the 1891 and 1901 census. Then there is your Arthur H who is on the 1901 census but invisible on the 1891

Its Emma Bishton or Florence Davis. There is an Arthur H Millichamp with a mother Martha so it might be him. Sorry more confusion !

Is the marriage of arthur H Millichamp the one to a Wright? There is some 'confusion' within the family as to whether Arthur jr was divorced from his wife before he took up with my grandmother. We can't find any record of my grandmother ever being born under the name her maiden name of Sylvia May (born 1910) and no record of her marrying my grandfather at all. What is odd though is that there is a Sylvia Millichamp who is the niece of Arthur jr but for whom we can't find a marriage/death record for.

Its very puzzling. I've been researching this particular part for 2 years now and its very frustrating!

How can Arthur be listed on the 1901 census as aged 12 and the son of Arthur H Millichamp if he is listed under David and Ellen as their child?

No can't find them. There is a mariage for an Arthur H Millichamp West Bromwich 1911. That must be the son.

Isn't the Arthur who has a birth registered in Aston but he is likely to be the son of David and Ellen.

They appear on the 1891 and 1901 census as MILLECHAMP

I'm not an expert, but I have seen on these boards that families did travel with the armies more than one would expect.

Would there be any possibility that the whole family were stationed abroad then?

I notice Arthur senior was a soldier RHA (Royal Horse Artillary?), so may have been serving overseas.

There would have still been a record of them on the 1891 census. I have applied for the child's birth cert to find out who the mother is but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm still keen to find them on the census record though.

Perhaps Arthur the father had been widowed and remarried, this time to a younger woman.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can find a family that don't appear to be on the 1891 census? I have them on the 1901 census with the child Arthur Millichamp being 12 years old but I can find the family in any form on the 1891 census. What is odd is that Arthur's mother would have been 11 when she gave birth according to the census return and the ages given. Details are below. Thanks Sue
