I have been doing my family tree for some time now and have come up against the proverbial brick wall which I am now banging my head against!

My grandmother (Sarah Pearce) was born in Wales, c1870. The family then turn up in Staffordshire in the 1881 Census. There is absolutely no trace of them after that until 1892 when she is lving at Seddon Street, Bolton, Lancashire with my g-grandfather William Pearce. Sarah married my grandfather James Ince in that year.

How can I trace their whereabouts before this, if at all?
