Is it a USB one? It should plug into a spare USB port on your PC.

Sue have a look at the front of your computer (not your monitor) is there a little slot about 1/2 inch wide?
If not, have a look at your computer & it must be there. There are usually more than 1 but you may already be using 1 or both of then for a printer or IPod.
Once you've found the slot, push the flash drive in & go back to your computer.
I assume that you have the document you want transfered to the USB on your screen

to be cont'd

Part 2
Now you are ready to save to the USB
Press on FILE
Now SAVE AS
At the top of the new smaller screen you should see "My Documents"
Click on the small blue arrow at the side of "My Documents"
You should now see a long list of icons (Pictures) & words
One of these should say "USB", click on that.
Now name your document & press the save button.

This sounds more difficult than it is as I've tried to break it down into as many bits as I can

I have asked my son about this. XP should automaticly pick this drive up and assign it a drive letter ie F, which will show in "my computer". It is 98 that usually needs drivers for flash drives

Tried swapping it but still no joy,

Grasping at straws
I wonder if you've got more slots at the back? Anythings worth a go!

Have you clicked on 'my computer' to see what drives it has showing? Should be C, possibly D. Vista picks up my flash as J. Should say 'removable device' I think without knowing XP.
So - if you have more than C and D, try opening E or F - with the flash plugged in of course - and see what you get.
