No one in the family knows her Maiden name.
If I could Sydney Leifchild Bell's birth ref, I could send for his Birth Cert and get his mothers name.

Or even the Marriage of Older Sydney Hatton Bell.

I dont believe the surname is Hyphened to Hatton-Bell.

MMN = Mother's maiden name.

I wouldn't rely too much on the memories of someone who was only 7 at the time. Just because they lived in London area, doesn't mean they were born there.

Made a mistake with the death, it's the wrong granparent, Sorry, just made a phone call to double check,

Sydney Leifchilds son , said he came from London, Kensington / Marylebone. but doesn't know a great deal more as he left the famly when Keith (the son) was 7.

Yes Shirley,
It took ages to go through them. I thought Leifchild may be the Surname and looked through those.
I did think his mother had him before she was married, that's why I couldn't find him, and he may have taken the Surname BELL after.

So tried looking for Sydney Edward Hatton Bell born between 1900 and 1905 also for a marriage, but not knowing Young Sydney Leifchild's mothers' name , I'm a bit stuck.

Have you actually got his father's death certificate? Did he die in England, because I can't find a death for that name in 1964?

I can't even see the father's birth...........

Could the son be registered in MMN?

If you can't find the birth reg'n for the son...........what is the basis for the assertion that his birth was in London?

I need a second pair of eyes please, I've looked on Ancestry Births and Marriages but can't find:- SYDNEY LEIFCHILD BELL. definately born London.
His marriage cert says he was 23 in 1945 when he got married, I've looked between 1910 and 1925 on Ancestry BMD.

His father is SYDNEY EDWARD HATTON BELL (Staff Sergeant RAF) he died 1964 age 61 (on death cert) so he was born around 1903.

any ideas where to look next, would be much appreciated.

Thanks Maggie
