Yes, thats what I was going to say - if you can add it no prob to the computer program just do another gedcom and hopefully that will work :)

Kath
download a gedcom from GR and import into Brothers Keeper as a new family. Update that and send back to GR

I have got a better programme on my computer, thanks. I use Brothers Keeper, have done for years.

I was just curious as to how I could go about it without uploading the whole gedcom.

Thanks

Get yourself a better program on your computer - GRs is pretty awful. Most of us use the family treemaker 2006 (dont get the 2008 - too many glitches) - you can get it for a tenner at twr computing online including free ancestry access for two weeks and you can back it up to a cd or to internet storage and add photos, make books, print reports, trees etc and create an online homepage.

There are other programs and some freebies which are still all more flexible than GRs.

Paula is correct - but if you have a genealogy program on your computer you can merge families then upload a gedcom to GR and it will show them once only. Only other way is to enter them twice and cross-reference.

I've not come across it myself but have read similar queries from others and the answers.

Do you mean your tree on GR? If so then i don't think it is possible to link the person into the two places in your tree. i think you need to enter the data twice

Has anyone come across this? I would like to know how to go about cross referencing the family, without having to put two sets of the same name down.

For example the son of my paternal 2 x gt uncle's daughter married into my mothers maternal side. How do I link the two families?

any help would be appreciated.
