There arent any lists of men away in the army/navy but you may find some mention on National Archives site.

There arent any lists of men away in the army/navy but you may find some mention on National Archives site. Have you found these boys marriages? Chatham was a big military port - what is his occupation on the marriage certificate?

I looked for an Amelia born approx 1882 in Neath.

Can't find anything more for her - no death, no marriage.

Ok, so still looking for Edward in 1901 and also his recently discovered sister Amelia Seifriz, b. 1882. It is quite possible that Edward could have been a soldier, although I have no record of this.

Was Edward a soldier given that his marriage was in Chatham so he could be missing from the 1901 census

I am trying to find:

Edward Llewellyn Seifriz (known as Seifriss in later life) b. 1877 in Neath, Wales
and
Gustav Adolph Seifriz b. 1879 in Neath, Wales

Their mother dies in 1879, father remarried, new wife died in 1886, father Gustav Seifriz died in Neath1891.

I can find no trace of Gustav after the 1881 census, and Edward does not reappear until his wedding in Chatham Kent 1913. I think possibly there might be more ways of spelling this surname??

Would they have been likely to be sent to a workhouse or reform school? The family was well off enough to have a servant in 1881 if that helps at all. Also, any ideas on why Edward might have ended up in Kent would be great. Thanks.
