There wasn't actually a Higher Green Lane in 1901

There was a Green Lane...........and a Higher Green.

thanks reggie great advice as always. is there a way i can find out who lived at 17 higher green lane astley lancashire on the 1901 census ?

She may have thought she was born there..........if that is where she was brought up, and no-one disillusioned her.............

Your best bet is to wait for the 1911 census..........

hi sorry not been here for a while but been in hospital .(son has glandular fever ) the lady in question is my brother in laws grandma and he sais that she always said " astley born and bred and proud of it " that is the reason i have been looking for her and her family in astley . again apologies for not getting back.

Just because Lilian was living in Astley in 1923 doesn't mean that she was born there in 1902. She could have been born anywhere.

thanks everyone it was a long shot. i cant find her birth in the area or i would send off for the birth cert i know the family lived there so i will just have to keep on looking thanks once again

This is total guesswork & will most probably lead you up the garden path, but she is the only Lilian Ellis born 1902.

There are too many John Ellis in Lancashire to make a guess.

Also where someone married is not really a clue as to where they were born.

Hi i wonder if someone could give me some advice.
i dont have much info to go on.
Marriage cert for Tom Sankey to Lilian Ellis I have been quite successsful tracing tom sankeys family back but no luck with lillians. from this cert it seems she was born 1902 but her father john ellis was alive and perhaps the witness robert ellis was a brother could have been older than lillian ? the sankey family all came from the culcheth/lowton/croft area of lancashire. lillian was living in astley not far away . do you think there is enough to go on here?
