Hi di
Josephs death cert dosn't mention how long in the colonies, but it does mention his children as
Mary A
George
Elizabeth and one female deceased (which I presume is Clara.
I will have to find out when Myra died and get the cert for her and see if it has how long in the colonies
this is the site for the passenger list where I found Joseph and the others http://www.archives.qld.gov.au/research/indexes.asp
Maybe Myra was an unassisted passenger

Hi Gary

As daughter Mary age 6 does not show up in the census or birth records, could it be that Myra has been mistranscribed by the indexer ? She would have been 46 and perhaps the "4" did not show up clearly ?

It would be unusual, but not unheard of, for the mother to come out separately. Can you cross reference the arrival you have with other reports, like the newspaper, or other official documents. Does her death cert mention how long in colonies, and does that differ from the rest of the family ?

Hi Gary

If you look at a website called freebmd.org.uk, you are able to look up birth/marriage/death registrations for England and Wales. I put in Joseph Morgan and wife Myra, and found they married in Dec 1876 in the Hereford Registration District and Myra's maiden name was FOXHALL. From there you should be able to locate them in the 1881 census and then go on to earlier census to find their families before they married, etc etc.

(1881 index is free - I can look at details for you !!)

I am looking for info for Myra Morgan.
As far as i can ascertain
Husband Joseph Morgan age 42
Son George age 4
Daughters Clara age 2
" " " Mary A age 6
all arrived in Mackay Queensland Australia on the La Hogue on
the 5 Oct 1883 the ship left Plymouth on the 7 Jul 1883.
I can not find any info for the wife Myra Morgan.
I know that she did come to Australia because Myra and joseph
had a daughter elizabeth Born in queensland in 1886 BDM Ref 1886/C005702.
any info on how to find Myra would be a great help
