help understanding death certificate please

Hi all
I recieved a death certificate today the cause of death says 'carcinoma uteri ' by the side of this it says 9 months i looked on google and it looks like cancer of the cervix but why would it say 9 months ?
Did she have it for nine months?
Any ideas please thanks

I believe that's what it means. That it was dignosed 9 months previously. Mind you, she could have had it for 9 years!
