Hi Linda,
I have just looked on The Guild of one-name studies but unfortunately no person has registered Berry. If you go onto this site, (Genes re-united) click Search Trees and then put Berry surname only. The drop down section will immediately show possible variants.
You could also contact a few of the Berry researchers, and pose the same question to them.
Remember when most people could not read or write names were recorded "as heard".
Hope this helps

The thing you need to bear in mind as well Linda is that it may not be a common variant you are looking for but a miss-hearing, misspelling or a transcription error (from form to form or form to database).

I have names like Wright indexed as Bight and Clark as Cain. Just try wild cards or whatever you can think of.

Also post corrections when you can.

If you know the persons first name, approx year of birth and place - quite often they can be found in the census just using that info in the search box.
