If you order the certificate for the death registration that Reg found, you could specify her maiden name as a checking point as it should be on a death certificate at that time, (providing that the informant knew her maiden name).

You may find that she had another family and the informant was a member of the family. I managed to find information on my grandfather who left his family in the 1920's. He had a daughter with his second partner (who he later married) and I am now in contact with the daughter who is my late dad's half sister, although he never knew about her.

How do you trace a person that disapeared in the 1940's, left her husband and children, all of whom are dead now , and was never heard from again ? I can't find any information, don't even know if there was a divorce.Mary Elizabeth Byers is probably dead now but I would really like to know what happened to her. Her married name was Renwick.
