Have you put his name into the National Archives to see if anything comes up there.

Also try the National Archives for South Africa site..

http://www.national.archives.gov.za/

then search - Free State Archives, put his name in and see if anything comes up.

i have a relative that was in the above, not sure when, although he joined the english army c1882, is there anyway i can acess info regarding the south african police around the turn of the last century please
