I thought he had died because on the 1891 census Hannah is recorded as a widow. 1897 on Isaacs marriage certificate his father is recorded as deceased.

How can I verify that the 'live' Samuel is my Samuel? I know so little about him.

I knew I'd get more than I bargained for by asking on here :)

Pete, this is him and yes, birth NK is extremely unhelpful. For all I know he could have been an immigrant although I don't think so.

I haven't got the 1881 reference on me but he was married to Hannah/Annah and they had a child Isaac aged 5, Kate aged 8, Rosie and another daughter. Their occupations were Feather Brush makers (oddly)

He might have been married before I suppose because he was 39 when he married Hannah aged 22 but the marriage cert states he was a bachelor

What is the reference for the 1881 census?

I'm a bit stuck and wondering if anyone would help me find a Samuel Levy.

He married in 1872 and at that point was 39 yrs old, a general dealer and living in Little Halifax Street, Whitechapel, London. His father was Isaac who was deceased at time of marriage.

In the 1881 census he is aged 35 so I am not confident of his age at all. He died sometime between 1881 and 1891.

Thanks

Thanks.

Thanks

I am trying to track him back but with little success. I think it might be a woods and trees situation and I am just not thinking outside the box. Can anyone help please?

I would have thought that as he was a general dealer in 1872 that there would have been little change in location in 1871 but I can't find him. I can't find a Samuel Levys in previous censuses that have a father Isaac either and so feel I'm searching for a needle in a haystack.
