I have Scottish ancestors. Does anyone know whether ANCESTRY has scottish records ?

There are transcriptions of the Scottish census returns (but not the images) but there isn't a lot more for Scotland.

You will need credits for the Scotlandspeople website.

Only the transcriptions of the census as described above.

For bmd, parish records and census images etc then you need SP for starters unless you can visit the area you are researching.

Scottish records can be searched and images from the register downloaded more quickly and cheaply than English/Welsh records.

Cost 1 credit per search & a further 5 to view a record.

Records show more info than England & Wales.
Marriage & death both show both sets of parents names including mum's maiden name.

Registration started in 1855, Scotland People show the following

Births 1855-1906
Marriages 1855-1931
Deaths 1855-1956

You can also view old wills & PR's
