I have George and Sarah Simmons in 1871 living as man and wife in Wolverhampton Staffordshire - there are no children at this stage. From one of their children's birth certs I know Sarah's maiden name to be Amos.

However even with this information I still cannot find their marriage.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Gillian

I had the same problem with my husband's grandparents and even though they were registered as living as man and wife and their children took the fathers name (first child in 1911) they weren't actually married until 1914!

I've found in my research that there were a lot of our family that were married after the children started to come along!
