Sheila,

It took longer than I expected, but I have now spoken with Bill, my workmate who is a member of the Magic Circle.

He vaguely knew the name Eric Phillips, when I mentioned David Devant he said that it was his performing partner who invented the gadget that you used to find on toilet doors when you had to put a penny in it to open it! Maybe it was Great Uncle Eric!

I'm afraid Bill wasn't able to help much apart from saying that their archives are very good, so it is definitely worth contacting Magic Circle.

Good Luck

Duncan

Hi Sheila,

Bizarrely I work with a member of the Magic Circle! I expect to see him on Monday, I will ask him if he knows anything, or at least who is the person to ask.

I'm looking for information about a man called Eric Phillips who I believe may have been my grandad's brother. He was a magician, a member of the Magic Circle and a friend of David Devant, who is himself well documented.

Does anyone know whether the Magic Circle have archives and if they do, how I would go about searching for information on this man. There is nothing obvious on the Magic Circle website.

Thanks

Sheila
