Tracey,

I can't find all the births you mention on Family Search but the ones I can find are all submitted ones (including Dorothy), which are very often wrong as quite often they are not taken from official records, so I would discount them.

Hi, Tracy,

I had a look at familysearch. Someone has added the details about Dorothy Edith Orme to the lists. They may not have known that the family came from London.

I can't find Harriet's birth, at all, in familysearch to compare. It may be that her adoptive parents didn't like the name 'Harriet' and called her Dorothy and this got mixed up through the passage of time.

I am sure that Dorothy is the same family, because whoever entered the details, also entered Alice Susan and Cecelia Jane, but no Henry, William, Harriet or Mary Ann.

If you enter Dorothy Orme, 1893, Derby and search. Then click on her name to see her parents and then click on "family", there are only three girls named.

Sorry, this is not too helpful.

All the best in your search.
Lindy.

First of all, do you have any of the birth certs? Where were the other children born?

I am not sure what you mean by "on free bmd it lists the same parents...." - parents full names aren't given on freebmd and the mother's maiden name is only given after 1911.

I wouldn't think it possible for sisters to be born in different areas in the same quarter, unless they were twins and were born days apart with mother moving from one area to another but not from Barnet to Derby!

I'm at the moment researching my Grandad's Siblings... As a family story goes that my grandad gave one of his Daughters to a Sister of his and was taken to America... the daughter is a Molly Kathleen Orme 07/07/1925 the list i have for his siblings are Mary Ann 1882, Alice Susan c1885, Henry James c1885, Celia Jane c1889, William John 1891(my grandad - Molly's dad), Harriet c1893... but having another look i have found a Dorothy Edith Orme born in the same quarter as Harriet but in Derby not Barnet where Harriet was born... on family search it lists the same parents names William Orme and Mary Ann Frith and Dorothy's death is in Florida, U.S.A....Now the interesting bit is that my mum only knew of her aunt in America as AUNT DOLLY...

Does anyone know how i can confirm these details... and if Harriet and Dorothy are sisters how come one was born in Derby and one in Barnet area... I'M TOTALLY CONFUSED NOW...

All the best, a confused Tracey
