If you add them in the same way that you would add a husband or wife, you can then go into ..People...then choose edit marriage and you can change the relationship between the two.

Hello,
I'm about to enter some relatives onto my Family Tree Maker programme. How do I enter the names of someone's partner?
They are not married, and have children together. Do I just enter them as husband and wife?
