Answered my own question! City of Westminster Archives have references to the locations of all old workhouses and Birds Buildings was a workhouse. Thought so!

yes -Google references pigeon poo problems in Finsbury mostly! I have tried doing an advanced search cutting out certain words but I suspect there must be a database somewhere of old buildings and that would probably be where the records would be kept

Can we assume that you have googled and got no results?

Does anyone know if I can find out about a building in FInsbury, London called Bird's Building? I suspect it was some sort of doss house but I may be wrong. I have a theory that the husband absconded and left his family in poverty but would like to know for sure. Any ideas?
