Records of homes for children

I have been trying to locate the home in which my mother was placed when only two years old because of the death of her mother aged 23 in 1911. They lived in Islington at the time and I've searched the records of the principal childrens home in that area at that time ( Andover Road ) without success.
Does anyone have any knowledge of the subject of childrens homes under the authority of Islington in the early 1900s? Would there have been a register of children from the area placed in homes.

Dear Thomas

Try www.nch.org.uk - the website of the National Children's Homes - I'm sure if you email them they could point you in the right direction.

Best of luck

....Trying a different approach...
If you know where your mother went to school, an address may be recorded in the school entrance register.
