I have not ignored MGHS, he wrote me a PM and i answered him that way.
, i looked at web-site for CCleaner and it needs the equivalent of 3 text messages from mobile phone to be sent. I forgot to buy credit today so until i go out again tomorrow i am stuck as i only have 20p on phone.

Restarted PC then attempted to download version 8.1.
Message Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.
I clicked on the 'advanced' button to see what it said and it shows Adobe Reader Disabled.

It gets better and better!!

I can vouch for what MGHS has said about ccleaner - brilliant little program! I had the same problem with Adobe after installing an updated version and after using ccleaner and then downloading the latest version of Adobe everything was fine.

Restart your PC then try re-installing Adobe again.

I have followed your instructions then looked at the add/remove and Adobe Reader is still shown using 61.37mb.
I have gone back over your instructions and Adobe is no longer showing on the final list.
I am now uncertain if anything is still on here or not.

It looks like there are some Adobe files left in the registry.

To get rid of all of the registry entries for the Adobe Acrobat program.

Click on Start, Run, then type in regedit, click ok.

Click on the + sign by the side of HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE.

From the list that opens click on the + sign by the side of SOFTWARE. From the next list left click once only on Adobe, this will make it blue, then right click on it and left click on Delete from the options.

You have now removed all files relating to Adobe from your computer.

If you are running any other Adobe software like Photoshop you may have to reinstall it.

For several weeks now i have been trying to sort out problems that have suddenly occured.
I know i have asked on here before about it - but still havent come to a solution.
My problem is that i cannot open PDF files.
I have had an old version of Adobe Reader 7.08 on my computer for a few years and it has always worked well.
I then downloaded an update and thats when my problems started.

It will no longer open files.

As i found out from web pages that this was an old version i decided to unistall it and download a newer version.

On my add/remove list i have Adobe Flash Player and Abobe Reader 7.08 There is also Adobe download manager showing but with no figures against it, as though it is no longer on there

If i click on either to try to remove i get the following message

This patch package could not be opened.
Verify that the patch exsists and that you can access it, or contact ' support'

If i click on 'support' it then takes me to pages and pages about 'error 1714 and a whole list of things i can do to rectify the problem.

One of them being to go to add/remove, another is mucking about with Windows Installer Clean Up to clean the registry but it gives a lot of warnings that quite frankly frightened the life out of me.

Another is to install the disc, which i havent got as i think i downloaded it from a web-site in the first place (its been on computer about 3yrs)

The last resort is to phone a 0200 phone number that i guess will cost me a bomb.

All i want to do is unistall the Reader and install a newer version, or i would even be happy getting my old version to work!!

If i try now to instal a newer vrsion i get told to delete the older version first.

Someone did suggest that i just leave it alone and download another 'reader' which i did, but i seem to have lost it!!

Can anyone help please, in simple language as i am not exactly up with all of this.
