Thank you for your email.

The House of Lords Information Service provides impartial and factual
information about the role, work and membership of the House of Lords.
The vast majority of people with a title are/were not members of the
House of Lords, for example those people who purchase a title (Manorial titles).

I can find no records of a current or past member of the House of Lords with the surname/title `Tregaron'. You could try looking in Burke's Peerage and Baronetage www.burkes-peerage.com or Who's Who
www.whoswho-online.com copies of which you should find in any UK public library.

For further information about Manorial Titles you can contact: The
Manorial Society 104 Kennington Road London SE11 6RE

Tel: 020 7735 6633

Web: www.msgb.co.uk

I hope this helps.

Could be he was Lord of the Manor and bought the title!

Wow, I'm impressed! Lots of ideas there.

I think that Lord Tredegar sounds highly likely because my ancestors were from Monmouth. I'll go off in that direction, I think.

Many thanks to you all, Krissie.

Try Caron as the civil parish on Ancestry - Wales Census.

Have tried Google and Caron keeps coming up - original Welsh name I think - too late, can't concentrate properly. Does work on Ancestry though.

Hope this helps.

My bet might be on Trefgarne.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Garro_Trefgarne,_2nd_Baron_Trefgarne

Ewwww.

But better, his father:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Morgan_Trefgarne%2C_1st_Baron_Trefgarne

a Labour MP. And contemporary of my Labour peer and Lord Chancellor cousin, Viscount Sankey, grandson of my grx4 grandmother's brother!

Krissie.

Burke's Peerage. No record in the present day.

I emailed the House of Lord's Information Office and asked if a Lord Tregaron existed in 1920!!

Nearest I could find is Lord Trefgarne.(Pembroke)...lives in Surrey.

Lords and ladies are always such fun!

On the one Claire mentioned, it seems:

http://tredegarhouse.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html

Google maps finds a half-dozen results for "tredegar house" -- this would be that one? --

Tredegar House
Coedkernew
Newport NP10, UK

Hybrid view close up gives a good picture.

Searching at Ancestry for Tregaron gets nothing, but Tredegar (no other details in search criteria) gets a handful of lord and lady entries (and a "lora", of course, like all the "sui"s etc. for "sir" ...).

There are also some Fredegar-s who have been corrected to Tredegar, and the Ancestry user who made the corrections might be somebody to contact for info.

I've just googled "Lord Tregaron " & come up with just 2 matches both from fictional books.
The name that does spring to mind is Lord Tredegar who had a large estate close to Newport Monmouthshire.

I hadn't thought of the A2A or NA.

Contacting the present day Estate Manager would be a problem because I can't find anything about the Estate.
Maybe the family source has got it wrong.

Thanks for your suggestions, Chris.

I'm off to bed now, will look again tomorrow.

I am trying to find information on Lord Tregaron and his estate/home in the 1920's.
An ancestor of my mine worked there in service.

I have googled and "Genuki-ed" but just get the town of Tregaron, Cardiganshire.

Can anyone find him for me please?
