Problem with WDYTYA magazine sub

Thanks Chris. I'll get onto them next week. I'm having a surreal silly-season day today what with Sky phoning me to tell me they can't process my application as neither my address nor telephone number exist. I've only lived here for 19 years and took that call on the alleged non-existent phone number!

Tracey

This has not happened to me but I would be straight back onto my bank.

They happily paid £1 subscriptions from an account that that the mag subscription department freely admit they have incorrectly quoted?????

The second payment was probably refused by your bank (incorrect details quoted) but the mag had already sent your copy it in good faith hence why you had received it.

The third wouldn't have been sent as they didn't have a way of claiming payment.

Still doesn't explain why you have a debit on your bank account that the mag say they haven't received :(

Hope that makes sense!

Chris.

Just thought I'd post here in case anyone else has had a similar problem.

I took up an introductory sub with WDYTYA mag paying £1 for the 1st 3 issues, followed by £9.50 3 monthly after that. The £1 was taken out from my account and I received the first 2 issues. The 3rd one seemed to be taking a long time and when I noticed it on sale in the shops, I phoned up the subscription department.

I was astonished to be told that the bank had refused my DD mandate on 2 occasions so the subscription arrangement had been cancelled. So how come the money has gone from my account then?, I asked. Apparently somebody from the subs department typed in my bank account number wrong, hence the bank refusing to pay them. Still doesn't answer how the money still came out of my account though, does it?

So WDYTYA think I have received goods which I haven't paid for, while I think I haven't received what I paid for. I have missed out on the 3rd issue of the magazine and will have to pay full-price for it. Annoying as I have already paid for it (albeit at a silly price off 33p)

I am very puzzled and, needless to say, not very confident in the Direct Debit system.

Has this happened to anyone else?
