Titanic - confirmation of death

One of the widows of the Titanic (April 1912) had a child in June 1914 - however she did not marry the father until Dec 1915 - he was a bachelor so no impediment there. Family lore has it that the widow could not marry until death was confirmed - hence Dec 1915? Is this correct. Know it used to be 7 years before a missing person could be confirmed dead but death on the Titanic is hardly missing!
Can anyone help please?

Have more or less decided widow was telling porky pies again - she has before - her g.children knew nothing of the Mansion House Relief Fund and the monies she received from that both for herself and her children. She had a child out of wedlock in 1914 and did not marry until 18 months later (father was bachelor) so no impediment - think she must have been reported to the Fund - lost her personal pension and so had to marry! But the stlory was a good one to cover up and tell her children and g.children.
