I was expecting him to be a Lawyer as that's what's on the marriage cert.
If the census reads TIMBER PORTER then the marriage cert could read SAWYER if anyone knows if there is such a job.

There is certainley an occupation of Sawyer
Sawyer Timber mill/pit worker, sawing timber

Looks to me as if the image could say "Timber Porter", the T is the same as the Tailor and Tailoress above.

Thanks Keith,
Now I know I'm on the right track,

We thought we had a genius in the family, being a Lawyer.

Most of the family worked in the timber and Sawdust trade.

I agree. It looks like Timber Porter or Lumber Porter, but Lumber being more of an American word I am going for Timber Porter.
