Thank you Sam, I've looked up th Wilkes/Percival marrage on Ancestry, looks good. I will wait a while before sending for the cert, family history is an expensive hobby :))

Thanks again.

Amy's marriage?

Surname First name(s) Spouse District Vol Page
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages Jun 1919 (99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boyce George E Wainwright Kings N. 6d 165
>>>Percival Amy M Wilkes King's N. 6d 165
Wainwright Amy Boyce King's N 6d 165
>>>Wilkes Albert Percival King's N. 6d 165

If you get this marriage certificate, it will give you their ages and the names of their father's and make it easier to trace their births and find them on the 1901 census.

I think you need to wait until you get Betty's marriage certificate, you could be looking for the wrong man if you aren't sure he was named Albert/Bert.

My MIL Betty Evans, formally Wilkes (DOB 30/12/1921) was very tight lipped about her family and totally silent on my husband's father.

I know my husband's father was Harry Evans from Birmingham, somewhere off Broad Street. I have sent for thier marriage cert. Sept 1946 having found the record on Ancestry. I am hoping to find on the cert Harry's father's name and Betty's farther's name (I know her mom was Amy Wilkes formally Percival) it could be Albert or Bert.

Betty's father died insane in an asylum, something she would never talk about, we found this out from my husband's uncle who is now deceased.

I have Betty's parents wedding photo and from the way some of the young women are dressed it took place after 1921 Albert/Bert is wearing a sailor's uniform. I also have a collection of postcards sent by Albert/Bert to Amy from 1909 when he was in the navy. I also have photos of Albert/Bert in full sailors uniform but cannot read the name of the ship on his hat.

I am trying to find Amy and Albert/Bert's date of marriage and their dates of birth. I have been trying for two days on Ancestry but can' find any matches.

Any tips welcome.
