Thanks everyone for your help - After weeks of trying I have actually found him all this time my nana told us he was born in 1921 when in fact it was 1922 - daft old bat even my dad and all his brothers think it is 1921.

Have just found the marriage cert definately John H Osborne and he married Edna May Johnstone Jan 1942 (8d 117).

Would I be best getting a copy of the marriage cert? Will it give me any more details on John H Osborne?
Not sure never done this before.

Where do you think he was born?

There are these from FreeBMD if he was a year out?

He was born in Macclesfield, cheshire and I only know his parents were called Annie & Herbert they lived in the Fallowfield Manchester area possibly tarporley ave?

Look for his marriage cert to make sure that is his real name just blown a brickwall to bits doing it this way as couldnt find a birth or death.

Uncle Bill who we were told was Charles William through his marriage found he was Herbert Charles William.

mind you you have to know his wifes maiden name,

I see the date of birth you give is the same as listed on the death index.

That date was given by the informant of the death so only as good as what they thought they knew.

So you could be looking before or after that date for a birth.

I Have been trying to trace my grandad John Henry Osborne dob 06/10/1921 died July 1991 (Vol 8 pg 977) can not trace his birth what so ever?

Any ideas?
