Hi I wonder if someone can answer this question for me? On the list of birth records that I have been looking at I have found one of my aunts. Alongside the volume and reference numbers there is another letter - a- in brackets. does anyone know what this means?
Thank you,
Dawn

I always understood that records that have (a) after the page number signify that an amendment has been made to the original record.

Im with Pete, usually some sort of addition to the page.

My understanding is that if there were late arrivals at the GRO from the register offices, they were indexed under a,b,c etc.
