Thank you to all who replied - maybe I have stumbled across a GRU weakness - it would be great if they could amend this hiccup!!

You can cope with inter-marriages using the PAF software....free to download from the LDS site

Get yourself a decent tree program that is able to deal with complicated relationships. Familytreemaker 2006 is the one most of us use - under a tenner from twr computing including 14 days free sub to ancestry.

Then export all your GR stuff into it in one go with a gedcom.

What options are available when an established tree receives some new information and two members of the same large family (different branches) inter-marry - the lines cannot be combined because all individual information is already placed on tree - is the only option to delete and start again - please help if you can and advise - do not relish the thought of deleting more than, let's say 100 ancestors??? What can we do in these circumstances?? I cannot be alone on this - what have other members done - should the site help?
A well tended tree is now withering and branches falling off ???
