Yes I am the only user, and before anyone asks no I haven't got it password protected. Seems like it wouldn't matter even if it were if it's going straight to the desktop.

It's always had the log-in page up before, oh well sounds like I'm not going to be able to find a way to get it back. And sounds like for some reason I'm the only one it's affected.

Thanks all

It updates automatically and installs when you go to turn off and usually everything is fine. I turn the computer off last thing and it is when I turn it back on that it goes straight into my desktop instead of the normal screen where you have to log on. If I just log off it goes to that screen. So the problem is at normal start-up when you turn the PC on.

Going to the user accounts doen't help with getting the normal start-up page back up.

I've tried putting the update details on google adding start-up problems but haven't found anything, although there is plenty about what the update is. A security one I think, to do with stopping hijackers.

I asked my daughter and she said she never updates as they often cause problems.
She suggests you look at:-
start
control panel
user accounts
there should be something there.

have you rebooted it . Mine is working ok. Maybe theres some updates that require a reboot. I leave mine on Standby over night and it goes to the page where you click your user name to proceed.

Has anyone operating Windows XP had a problem at start-up since Sunday's update? Since then every time I turn on the pc it goes straight into my user account, rather than the normal screen where you have to click on your name to get to your desktop.
