My gt Grandfather was Joseph Arthur Barrett. He was married in1919 in Barnsley to Mary Frances Fearnside. The problem I have is finding where he was born. Mary was born Barnsley 1901 so I was hoping he would show up somewhere in the 1901 census but i have been unable to find him. It is possible that he was born in Ireland as my Dad always joked about having Irish blood and to date no one else I have found is from Ireland. I have ordered marriage cert which is taking forever to come (Christmas mail and being in Oz dont help).
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look next?

Thanks
Ally

Thanks for replies, they say patience is a virtue (sadly one I seem to have missed out on!) Will wait for cert. No one left to ask as Dad has gone and his parents separated when he was young so completely lost touch with that branch of the family.
Once I have his fathers name will contact INis. No point troubling her til I have something more concrete.
Sorry for the delay in replying (got called away)

Ally :)

Someone from Oz on another thread, ordered a cert 26 Nov & it arrived 3 Dec which is as quick as the service within the UK.

I agree with the others - wait for the certificate.

However this is the only birth for that name in Yorkshire that comes up on Ancestry - 20 years older than Mary Frances:-

Name: Joseph Arthur Barrett
Year of Registration: 1880
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Wharfedale
County: Yorkshire - West Riding, West Yorkshire
Volume: 9a
Page: 128
