1901 census has 923 Essie's........seems to have been a name in its own right............

I haven't found a birth yet that could fit with the age but I will keep looking and then send for the cert. I also wondered if it was transcribed properly and checked but think I would say it's Essie.

My initial thought would be Esther or Elizabeth, But I agree with Karen, Have you looked for the birth registration?

You could always look up the birth of this child that would surely have the correct name.

Hi. On the 1901 census for a family member the child is called Essie aged 11 months and I wondered if anyone knew what this was short for please?
