Echoing Julie's experience -- I get people letting me look at their trees all the time when I've tried to help find something for them. I keep meaning to write them all back and suggest they close the tree again ...

Is the person giving you access somebody you have PMd or received a PM from? I have been given access two or three times by people who have PMd me rather than posting on a thread - absolutely no connection to me and some of them have living people in their trees!

You could try putting some of the surnames from your tree into the search box at the top of the other person's tree to see if you come up with anything.

I did promise myself that when I asked a person for info I would make a note of it for easy reference !!!!!....

I can`t find where I put that info !!!!!!!!!!!! I think I will message the person and "explain" I am in the throws of "age related memory loss" lol

It's quite likely that there is no connection whatsoever......the person who gave you access may well have hit the 'allow access' button by mistake.

I've had numerous 'permissions' from GR members..........none of whom has any connection whatsoever to me, or my tree.

Have you tried the quick search fields at the top of the screen?

I would send them a message explaining that you can't remember what the shared name might be and would they let you know. I've done that two or three times in the past - the joys of a menopausal memory!!

I have been given access to a tree. I do not recognise the name of the person who gave me permission to look at the tree, and have been trawling round the tree trying to see if there is a name that rings a bell.

To put it in a nut shell, I became "lost" within that tree. Is there a sensible method of searching a tree that does not get you lost??
