Perhaps I shouldn't, but I've found all my rellies were born and lived within 5 yards of each other, living in each others house and swapping houses too!! The tendancy was also to marry the girl next door!!!

Hi Lew, Sorry not been able to be on here until now to answer you.
I have seen on microfilm at LDS a marriage to Mary Ann Allington and until you raised the doubt I had no reason to think it wrong. they did have another 5 children from 1832 onwards. Can you tell me anymore of the other marriages you found please.

Are you sure that the marriage in 1827 is correct. There are 3 other John Arnold marriages to a Mary Ann in London in 1824, 1825 and 1826

Perhaps his mother died in childbirth. You could try looking for female Arnold deaths around the time John was born.

I have posted this before but hoping some new eyes might be able to help.
I have a John Arnold born 1826 Bethnal Green, baptised 24.12.1826 he married Mary Best 27.07.1851 St Marys Church, Spittlefields. His father was also John Arnold born 1801 Whitechapel but I have been unable to find his mothers name.
On the christening record mother is shown as Mary Ann who his father married 12.02.1827 but I don't think she is his mother as on their marriage record John is registered as a widower.
How can I find who I think his mother and Johns first wife.
Thanks anyone.
