Can anyone tell me whether the Overseas BMD Registers are available online, since they have been removed from the Family Records Centre?

I am curious about my great aunt, Nancy Taylor, who was born in 1909, possibly in India or en-transit there. And I believe her cousins may have been born in Mauritius. Oh it was so simple when one could jump on a bus to Islington and look things up in a big book ;o)

Thanks. Very useful site! But I may have to go to Plan B, these particular relatives weren't in the army or consular service.

the overseas indexes are available for free on www.familyrelatives.com. By the way - they didn't have to be in the consular service, just that the event had to be registered with the British consulate in order for it to be included.

Cheers,
Richard

Ooh, better still! Thanks for clarifying about the records. Up until now my overseas ancestors of interest have been military folk, so I haven't looked in the other registers.
