I see on the 1871 that she is widowed, mother of John age 34?

If she is the one Keith found in the 1871, the age and DOB are wrong. Image says 65 which makes more sense as if she was 45 she would have been 11 when John was born!

Thats correct she is a Widow

KeithInFujairah

KeithInFujairah Report 19 Dec 2007 14:49

If married name is Burr, the Jane Atkinson you found is a widow in 1871, had she married before or reverted to maiden name? Have you looked for Jane Burr? If she was married to a Burr, unless she reverted, she would be on the census as Burr, not Atkinson.

Where have you got the married name Burr from? A childs birth cert?

Raymond

Raymond Report 19 Dec 2007 14:59

Janes name would change around 1858/59 when she apparently married Thomas Burr no birth date in 1871 Census, her fathers name was John Atkinson 1807 mother Sarah Johnston 1810. is that helping any better.

KeithInFujairah Report 19 Dec 2007 15:01

OK we are looking for Jane Burr then?

Raymond

Raymond Report 19 Dec 2007 15:05

Yes, but I am also looking for her years before her marriage, andI do appreciate your help.

MargaretM Report 19 Dec 2007 15:06

It still doesn't make sense that her father was Atkinson when she was married to Atkinson in 1851.

Raymond

Raymond Report 19 Dec 2007 15:07

Keith re your 14.49 message it is on the 1871 census.

KeithInFujairah

KeithInFujairah Report 19 Dec 2007 15:08

How do you know that the 1871 is her? She would have been a Burr if she married Thomas. I cannot see a marriage for them in 1858/59 anywhere in Cumberland.

Have you got a childs birth cert to confirm the married name? Or that indeed the father was Thomas Burr?

Raymond

Raymond Report 19 Dec 2007 15:14

Keith you may be right, I may have got the wrong census and gone comletely off the mark. I think I will delete this 1871 census off my tree and start again. It always takes a fresh pair of eyes to see this. Thank you all again for your time and effort.

Dont forgot, you really do need to obtain certificates to prove parentage etc, good luck with your search.
