Hi all
I wonder if any kind soul could help me I am compleatly at a loss as to where else to look or how to go about finding any more information,
I will start where I started
Step 1. My grandmothers birth certificate
4 March 1898 Maud girl Arthur Stainthorpe Ada Stainthorpe formaly Downey,
(great I thought I now have the mothers maiden name)
Step 2. marriage certiricate for Ada and Arthur
15 April 1895 Arthur stainthorpe Ada Downey him 24yrs her 20 yrs him Bank Foot her 8 Ebeneezer st Bfd his Jacob Stainthorpe hers Martin Downey (deceased)
(great I now have her year of birth and her fathers name)
Step 3. Birth certificate for Ada Downey
8th January 1875 Ada girl Martin Downey Margaret Downey formaly Green registered Wakefield
Step 4 Census
1881 Census
38 Vulcan street, Little Horton, Bradford
Martin Downey(transcribed Downing) head mar 44 labourer Ireland
Margaret wife mar 42 Ireland
Ada daur 6 Wakefield
Margaret Ann daur 3 Bradford
Mary Elizabeth daur 1 Bradford
William Chadwick lodger mar 35 Huddersfield

Death certificate for Margeret Downey
24 June 1898 Margaret Downey female 49 widow of Martin Downey informant Ada Stainthorpe daughter

and last but not least a black edged printed death card(foun in Ada's prayerbook many years ago and which started it all)
Mary Margaret Downey details same as death cert it said she was buried at Bowling cemetry grave details found.

and that is it I can find no other information about Ada's Parents I have managed to follow one sibling who married a Willie Hackett bfd
I have search for births marriages and deaths and census Martin just appeared for the 1881 census and got a mrntion on various certificates other wise he does not exist.
Can anyone help and sugest where to look

Hi Heather
Yes Martin Downey mainly he appeared in 1881 census got a mention on a few certs and vanished no trace of him at all.

you are a star thank you so much it looks like its them.
I do believe in miracles.
I have also found out what an industrial school is not looking good for my ancestors I just thought it was a private school in my ignorance, I now need to find out what they did to get themselves sent there.
I now have a more possitive attitude again thanks to your hard work.
