Can anyone help me trace William Miles's marriage to Sarah ? In the 1851 Census he, Sarah and their family were living in Malmesbury,Wiltshire.

Any info. would be appreciated.

The marriage will almost certainly be on freebmd.........have you looked for it there?

Their place of residence is not necessarily where they married........Sarah's birthplace would be the more likely location for the marriage

As the names are not exactly unusual, it may be worth looking for a birth reg'n for one of the children, and obtaining the cert, to establish MMN.

Wm Miles, labourer is the one I'm interested in, Margaret.
I will probably have to get a copy of the birth registration of Wm and Sarah's daughter, as you suggested Reggie.

Update:
I tried Wiltshirebmd and found daughter Sophia's entry which gave her mother's surname as Harris. Thanks Paul. Can't find any record of Sarah Harris' marriage to Wm Miles despite searches on both names. I suppose it's possible that they never married.
