Can anyone tell me where to start searching for a death prior to1837 please.
I have the name, DOB, Christening, place and a reasonable idea of year of death.
Thanks
Linda

The parish register for the church where the burial took place would be the only source of info.

Have you looked on the IGI? There are some burials on there, although not many.

Reg,
Does this mean I have to go to the church to see the records or are there copies anywhere please.

You can probably find copies at the relevent county records office.

If you are lucky, the church you want may be transcribed onto the National Burial Index discs. If you want me to look, either post the details, or send me a message

Hi Linda
Try the FreeReg site

freereg.rootsweb.com

I had what I believe is a small breakthru on my family on that site last week.
Good luck
