Clarrification on name John/Jonathan

Member Since: January 2005 Posts: 68 Send Message	Can anyone tell me please, if the name John would have been short for Jonathan or if a Johnathan could be also named John. I know in modern times Jonathan can be known as Jon (no 'H') but I am trying to clarrify a name and relationship in 1839 without the benfits of a census to help me out. I have a Jonathan in East Dereham and a John in Castle Acre possibly the same man. Both were publicans around the same time. Cheers Maria

	Jno jon and all variations seem acceptable, my Johns all called themselves Jack, it doesn't help!
